Father's Day is celebrated the 3rd Sunday in June. In 1909 Sonora Smart Dodd thought of Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in Spokane, Washington. Washington State celebrated the nations first statewide Fathers Day on July 19, 1910. In the 1972 presidential re-election campaign Richard Nixon signed a proclamation making Fathers Day a federal holiday.
